Monica Sanz Official Fanclub Anniversary Contest

As we said in our post because of the Fanclub’s 3rd anniversay, in this new age, there will be suprises for everybody.Monica Sanz always keeps her warriors in mind and this time, she wanted to send us a little present to prove.Despite the anniversary we’re talking about was, in fact, some months ago, we have now five pictures of Monica Sanz, signed personally by her, each one with a little different dedication, for the members of her official fanclub.As we said in this post, because of the changes that have happened this last months, payment members would have more possibilities in a contest or draw to get, this time, one of the signed pictures.So, 3 pictures will be drawed to the payment members and 2 for the free members. That means there will be two parallel draws.Then the draw will be this way:

- Magabusiness: I was really keen on talking with Monica Sanz, we had done it in the radioshow, Magabusiness radio version, but I said: “She is an active woman, wanting to rule the world, and we wanted her to come and see us and tell us her stories, her things, and here she is, Monica Sanz.
- Monica Sanz: Here I am, it’s a pleasure.
- Magabusiness: How are you?
- MS: Very well, so pleased to see you.
- Magabusiness: Are you happy?
- MS: Yes, yes, really happy, excited, I really wanted to come and meet you.
- Magabusiness: Producer, writer, dancer, model, singer… I don’t know…
- MS: Whatever!! Everything!!
- Magabusiness: Where does all this comes??
- MS: I don’t even remember, I don’t remember first time I said “Mom, I want to be a singer!”
- Magabusiness: Mom I want to be an artist, they said.
- MS: No. I used to say: “Mom, I’m going to be an artist” I warned her, she can’t say I didn’t tell. When I was 2 I got lost in a restaurant, and she found me on a stage, cheering up everybody.
- Magabusiness: So it was vocational?
- MS: Yes, it was very clear to me.
- Magabusiness: But how do you start, as a model, maybe? What’s the way that brought you here?
- MS: I was singing, dancing, took music lessons and was very happy because I was on my way to the music world, but when I was 12 I had injured my left foot, I basically broke two fingers, and I spent two really bad years, it was a really bad moment, because I used to do sport… And I had to stop. But one day, at the hospital, the day I had to left the hospital, my mom gave me my first high heels and there was a person that has been really important in my life, that at the time was working on fashion and got me into a models agency. But I didn’t search for it, I wasn’t excited, it wasn’t was I really wanted. But it was really good for me, I got experience.
- Magabusiness: What were you studying?
- MS: I was on school! At that time I was on school!
- Magabusiness: But not when you were a model, really young!
- MS: Yes, yes, I was very young, but I continued on fashion because I used to say: “If I don’t have my album produced, I will do it my own”, and I paid my degree, I’m Audiovisual Producer, and…
- Magabusiness: So you’re a mate!
- MS: Yes, yes, it was very clear to me. If nobody made it for me, I would do it on my own.
- Magabusiness: So we’re going to listen to this song again,.. You’re music’s in English, what music do you do. What’s your style?
- MS: My music? My album?
- Magabusiness: Let’s listen a little bit more. Have you been to the UK, US… I’ve know there have been lots of downloads there…
- MS: Yes, it’s amazing
- Magabusiness: There are lots of things to talk about so let’s start with this.
- MS: Yes, it’s amazing, It’s been a lot more successful abroad, and I’m very thankful, but I’m also very thankful to the Spanish fans, because it’s true that everything comes from here in the end, and everything on the net, if it’s seen in another countries is thanks to the Spanish fanclub, who I’m very thankful to, I adore them and they mean a lot to me. Truly.It’s true that 90% of the downloads are from Japan, China and USA, but I think nothing of it would happen if the Spanish ones weren’t also there.
- Magabusiness: How is it known in Japan o the Usa that you exist, for example?
- MS: I don’t know, I don’t know and sometimes we don’t find any answer because people know you, and from countries you haven’t ever been to, I don’t know! Qatar, I don’t know, really strange places, that wouldn’t have to know me, and they do! I guess people talk, I don’t know.
- Magabusiness: At the time, you’ve released by the Internet two singles, this is the second one,
- MS: Yes, Stupid Groupie is the second one. They really are “waiting singles”, until I release my first album,
- Magabusiness: What will that happen? How long will it take?
- MS: I don’t know, I don’t really want to confirm anything because I don’t want to play with people, and of course not with the illusion of that people that are supporting me that much, but it will. Don’t know when, how,
- Magabusiness: You’re so enthusiastic, that’s clear!
- MS: Yes, and there’s nobody in this world more enthusiastic about this tan me!
- Magabusiness: Because now how many songs have you written? Do you write the songs?
- MS: Yes. I write with more people, but
- Magabusiness: You write the lyrics
- MS: Yes, all of them, I’m helped with the music, I’m working with writers that are very important and really good. They send me the music, I re-send them with what I want, but in the end they do what I say and that’s all. We send them all to the studio to be produced,
- Magabusiness: To fix everything, etc.
- MS: Yes, but answering the question, there are aproximately 50 songs? I don’t know, there are lots in the drawer.
- Magabusiness: So the album could be out now.
- MS: I could have 4 albums, yes.
- Magabusiness: So this goes slowly, must be patient
- MS: Music industry is not really well now., so…
- Magabusiness: Yes, you have lots of material, and this two are the best, or
- MS: No. In fact, they’re different, two different styles, I love doing everything, they’re not better or worse, they’re just “waiting singles” I hope I can keep my bests for the album.- Magabusiness: I say it because you have songs enough, so the album could be out at any time , but things are hard, the Spanish laws (illegal downloadings) and all that… People download, is it better releasing an album on internet, or just singles, a CD a DVD… What is best to do? Tell me, you’re a producer.
- MS: I don’t have the answer. If any producer could say it, everything would be fixed up. In fact, sometime ago, talking with Carlos Jean, an amazing producer, they’re trying to find new ways, and there are things that can work, but I only believe in well-done job, I do think that people that are working well are succeeding, there are more bands than ever, and, there’s a lot less space.
- Magabusiness: Times are not good for expending money, as well.
- MS: No. It’s a big sacrifice.
- Magabusiness: I mean expending money on releasing an album and buying it.
- MS: Yes, well, but now…
- Magabusiness: An album has a price…
- MS: Yes, but right now because of illegal downloads…
- Magabusiness: Yes, there are many people who says that it better to be downloaded, being known in the whole world and then release an album. It’s an option!
- MS: Yes, yes, In fact, I tell everybody I don’t mind singing for free I’m starting…
- Magabusiness: But you don’t have a videoclip!
- MS: We’re working on it! I can’t assure… But I will come to present it! Don’t worry, I will come here everytime you allow me.
- Magabusiness: Meanwhile, you’re performing… Where?
- MS: We had little concerts that are really good to me, because I think I’m a lot more shy on little gigs than in big concerts, and I feel much more intimidated on an unplugged, so I’m going little by little, but I feel a big support from my crew.
- Magabusiness: But there are your friends, or people saying “Who’s that girl?”
- MS: Chinese, Japanese!! There comes people who know me, people that don’t but I like people that don’t know, it’s better! New people!
- Magabusiness: Meanwhile, does this make you earn money or not?
- MS: When I think on producing, I know I will be a long time not earning… No, I’ve saved money, I’m producing with more people, so I can do it, but it’s a really big effort, really big.
- Magabusiness: You didn’t answer the question. Yous style? I know it’s very hard making a definition, Mick Jagger…
- MS: I like a lot more Angus Young, he’s my favourite guitar player…
- Magabusiness: Yes, I was wrong!
- MS: No! But I also like him so much, and most of all Michael Jackson is the biggest influence. It’s a show. Wherever I go I have my dancers, all the crew!!
- Magabusiness: Total show?
- MS: Yes, yes, All the crew, so it’s very nice, because I feel really protected.
- Magabusiness: There are musicals, that are another way…
- MS: I love musicals! I love jazz…
- Magabusiness: There’s something about it in your mind, maybe?
- MS: When I was younger, I used to be Velma Kelly She’s my favourite musical role, and I love jazz, so I love musicals
- Magabusiness: So you can sing everything
- MS: Well… I like them all…
- Magabusiness: When you release your album, it will be something for people to dance, there will be a ballad… What?
- MS: I haven’t decided yet what song would be in it if I have the chance to do it,
- Magabusiness: But what’s the best feedback, on dancing songs or ballads?
- MS: I think they enjoy much more dancing, and jumping, So it’s easier to me for choreography, scenery… Also my fans. That are the first for me, apart from those who want to be a part of it, Stupid Groupie is being downloaded a lot and maybe this song will be the one that will allow the album to be done. So I have to notice that a ballad about a topic girls really like has worked.

Monica Sanz's Notes: I’m booked!

Arriving home and seeing a surprise waiting for me is always a nice “Welcome”.
Specially this days I’m thanking God all the time for having my warriors with me in the fight. I’m having my own “Spanish revolution”, and next weeks are definitive for me, so thank you so much for this present!

Yesterday night I found a really special and lovely book on my bed I really enjoyed. I can’t believe lots of things I read but it was so much fun! I needed it!

It’s incredible you’re living my life that way, and I love you’re living the dream so near to me. Believe me, lots of times in my life I think “I wish all the warriors could be here with me in this moment”, so it’s nice knowing you definitely are.

I just feel ridiculous when I see myself alone not knowing you’re taking a picture, but I don’t really care. I understand you laugh at me then!

I have to admit that I was curious about what you think when you have news or any info (not always real as I can see) about me and I’ve learnt there are things I definitely don’t wanna know! Haha.

I have taken my book in my bag for next days, I’m gonna need your strength.

I know it seems I’m disappeared but I’m not, I’m just missing you, warriors. I love you as always or even more. Thanks for your love, support and presents ;)

First interview to Monica Sanz

Being a successful top model as you are, you know about the rule of the body mass on the catwalk…have you ever had problems with that? What do you think about this rule?

That’s a good question. Although I could spend hours talking about this, the truth is that this rule is not applied in most of the internationals fashion shows. Personally, I haven’t had problems with that but I think it’s difficult to control all the girls according to general figures. Each girl is totally different and I know colleagues who don’t reach the minimum allowed and they are completely healthy. However, others have perfect measures and BMI and also have food disorders. I think they should value other things as each girl constitution or her mental health. The problem is that it’s socially understood that a model has the perfect body and it’s not. The perfect general measures don’t exist. For me, the perfect body is the one which allows you to be healthy and do everything normally including breathing, eating, seeing, etc. A perfect body is the one which allows you live without taking so much care of it.

Each person has his own perfect body, measures, and BMI when he is completely healthy. Anyway, if this rule helps to avoid food disorders I suppose it’s good, although for me, a lot of times it’s just another advertising and controversial method to promote the fashion show. And here we can talk if you want why this rule is not applied in international fashion shows.

Although you collaborate with campaigns against anorexia, have they ever told you you are too slim or have they ever called you anorexic? What do you think about this?

Well, I don’t know if you know that I suffered from anorexia. I’m not proud of it but I’m not embarrassed either. It’s a serious problem and a mental problem too. In fact, I think you never give it up completely. Of course, they have told me anorexic many times and a lot of people have told me I’m too slim. Even my cousin called me “spaghetti”. However, when I was 15 and with 47 kilograms a Spanish designer called me “fat dwarf”…you see!

I ask if someone knows someone with anorexia, bulimia or other food disorder, have a lot of patience and understanding with her/him and ask for help to professional people, it’s the only way. It’s not just saying “if you eat, you will be OK”, it’s not that easy… And the fact is that “a bit fat” girl can also have anorexia and no all the slim girls have to have it…

Probably you know about the new Spanish size system, in it women are classified as bells, diabolos or cylinders, what do you think about this? What kind of woman do you think you are?

For me, this is the most horrible thing I’ve ever read! There are as many kind of women as women in the world…

And about your question, I’m supposed to be a diabolo but my breast is 2 centimeters smaller than my hip. Maybe that turn me into a funnel…

Lot of media , people… blame fashion world, advertisements and woman stereotype showed in magazines for anorexia, bulimia, and teenagers problems and disorders, how does this affect you? What do you think?

As I said before, it’s a mistake. Depending on what you want to do with your life, you will have to prepare your body in one way or another. And you have to consider your physical faculties too. For instance: I’m slim but I will never win a medal as a gymnast. I’m not tall enough to play basketball. And I haven’t got strength to throw anything…

I assure you that if a model has health problems, she doesn’t work! Not because they don’t let her work, but because she can’t. For being a model you have to have a lot of resistance and strength, although it doesn’t seem so… you would be surprised if you knew how difficult is to take each photo!

When you see a magazine, you should think that a model is ready for the object and it’s going to be seen just what she wants to, and the make up and the light are perfect! Regardless whether we take care of ourselves,etc.

You are a great model, you have an amazing body, and you easily can occupy the mind and the heart of a lot of men but, is there a man who occupy this space for you?

Wow! Thank you very much for all the compliments!!! Don’t think being a model helps me to make out with someone…not at all! Actually, boys don’t usually get closer to me. And about the question, well, yes, a lot of men occupy my heart: my father, my brother…

What is your favourite designer? And your favourite garment?

It depends on the garment a lot. For example I love Religión jeans, Dior, Valentino, Ellieb Saab or Versace night dresses, La Perla and Victoria’s Secret swimming costumes and lingerie, Jimmy Choo shoes…you have told me one of my favourite topics!

My favourite garment is the high-heeled shoes, with no doubt. I think you can dress up bad but if your shoes are OK, you fix the disaster!

Have you ever been naked in a photo shooting?

Yes, but just covering myself. And if it would be needed to help a good cause, I will do it, with no doubt, with a good photography and always stylish and beautiful.

A model you admire or inspire you.

There are a lot, but if I have to choose one: a Spanish one, Eugenia Silva and in the rest of the world, it would probably be Alessandra Ambrosio. But I insist, there are a lot!

If they would give you the chance to spend a whole day with your idol, who would you choose?

Michael Jackson, with no doubt. Although I’m thinking about a lot of people who I would like to talk to, for me it would be a childhood dream come true.

If you would go to a dessert island, what two things would you carry with you? (and food and drink don’t count,LOL)

Doesn’t use to be 3? Well, as you have given to me food and drinks, I would carry my sun cream lotion and a Victoria’s secret bikini just in case I find a pirate! (laughs)

What you wouldn’t do, even paying you?

I couldn’t betray someone never, either my own principles. For me, sincerity, trusting in someone and faithfulness are very very important.

What do you think about your own fan club?

You make me feel so happy! Just thinking that one person in the world like what I do is amazing. I’m very excited and very proud of you! I love all you do: the web, the welcomes, your letters, the media mess…! (laughs)

Sometimes, journalists and photographers call me telling me that you have called them or they are amazed for something you have done and I cry, everything is so beautiful…keep on doing this and for they…tough! (laughs)

The best of all is thinking that in some way, you have joined some people and they spend a great time doing things together or talking about what you do.

It’s difficult that a model has a fan club so, I’m amazed for having the luck of having you next to me and if I think about it I have vertigo. I mostly consider you part of the team in each photo shooting!

At the same time it is a huge responsibility, I’m scared of disappointing you or giving you a bad example. Now, the consequences of everything I do are higher.

You are something huge, very important for me. Since you are here, you have given to me a new sense in my job and I feel more strength and more support than never.

I can keep on talking for hours and I won’t be able to thank you everything you have done for me. Above all, I’m proud of you and you will always have a huge part of my heart. Thank you very much to all of you!

Do you miss Spain when you are travelling around the world?

A lot, you can’t imagine how much I miss it! The food, the climate, the people, the ham (laughs)…I love travelling and knowing places but Spain is my place, it’s my country, here is everything! And Spanish people are different, and a lot of people say this not only me! I love arriving somewhere and say that I’m Spanish!

What is your favourite food?

It’s easy captivating me with food. I like everything and I taste everything! I love oriental food and exquisiteness, but if you give me a fried egg with fries I love eating that!

What do you do in your spare time?

What time? If I have spare time to be alone in the hotel room I write, listen to music… If you are referring to having free days to spend with people, it changes! I love doing things with my friends as going to safaris, riding horses, or just going to the cinema! But I can’t go out with them to parties because I usually go to many…and I’m tired of them.
